GTA Remastered Trilogy Coming to PC and Consoles This Year, according to Multiple Sources

Last week the news of a remastered GTA trilogy was announced, and it was said that the remastered version of GTA1, GTA2 and GTA3 will be coming to PC and consoles this year. The game is said to feature HD graphics, improved textures, and up to 60 frames a second. The game will also be released with all the DLC, which will include new missions and vehicles. The game will be available on all platforms in September.

GTA V was already the biggest-selling video game of all-time, with a massive following of players who have been making mods and other custom content for the game for years. With the release of the game’s first DLC “The Doomsday Heist” and the first trailers for GTA VI, it seemed like it was mere hours away from being released. However, the GTA V team has now clarified that while “The Doomsday Heist” is indeed coming, the remastering of the triple-A title that released in 2013 will not be happening.

GTA V is arguably the most celebrated game of the last decade, and it’s already been remastered and released for PS4 and Xbox One. But now, it looks like that could be happening on other platforms, too.

For years, rumors about a GTA Remastered Trilogy including three of Rockstar’s most famous Grand Theft Auto titles have circulated on social media. However, GTA fans are now getting some concrete evidence that the project is genuine, and it may be arriving much sooner than anticipated.

According to Kotaku’s sources, Rockstar Games is working on a GTA Remastered Trilogy that will feature remastered versions of three iconic Grand Theft Auto games from the PS2 era: Grand Theft Auto 3, Vice City, and San Andreas.

All of these classic GTA games are being recreated using Unreal Engine, according to Kotaku’s sources, who have “solid track records.” GTA 3, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas are claimed to contain a mix of “new and old visuals,” implying that some, but not all, of the games’ original assets have been rebuilt or recreated in higher resolutions. The user interfaces of the games are among them.

Rockstar Dundee, the Scottish company that developed Crackdown 2 for Microsoft’s Xbox 360 system, is allegedly in charge of the new GTA remasters.

GTA Remastered Trilogy will be released “around late October or early November on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, PC, Stadia, and mobile phones,” according to Rockstar Games. However, since the company is concentrating on the console versions first, the PC and mobile ports may be postponed until next year.

According to one insider who claims to have seen a clip of the game in action, the graphics resembled a highly modified version of a vintage Grand Theft Auto game. […] There are no specifics on gameplay yet, but according to Kotaku, these remastered GTA games are attempting to remain as close to the PS2-era GTA games as possible.
