AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT Seemingly Nowhere to Be Found in the U.S. Aside from Prebuilts, Newegg Shuffle

The Radeon RX 6600 XT is a new video card from AMD, designed for 4K gaming and VR. It was supposed to be released in June, but we are still waiting. So far, it’s the only card available in the United States aside from prebuilts. However, it’s not available on Newegg.com, the largest reseller of video cards.

Even though AMD’s Radeon RX 6600 XT is one of the most popular cards ever released, the card is hard to find on prebuilts. That’s even more true after Newegg sent its employees to Best Buy stores to purchase prebuilts of the Radeon RX 6600 XT and found none. Apparently, Newegg found the same at the handful of select Best Buy stores it sent sales reps to, and the company also found the card at the very limited number of Newegg stores that carry it.

Just when it seemed like the AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT was all but dead in the U.S. market, Newegg’s website recently started selling the Radeon RX 6600 XT, but by ‘shuffling’ the model numbers. Considering how much AMD has discussed making the RX 6600 XT a mainstream, sub-$100 video card, it’s puzzling to see the model number shuffling happening right before the weekend.

AMD has given its partners and merchants the green light to start selling the Radeon RX 6600 XT, the company’s newest Radeon RX 6000 Series graphics card. Regrettably, it looks to be a major paper launch.

The Radeon RX 6600 XT seems to be a no-show at several major shops, as reported by hardware leakers and different media. Tom’s Hardware editors checked Amazon, Memory Express, MicroCenter, and other big retailers feverishly since the graphics card’s release time at 9:00 a.m. ET this morning, but couldn’t locate a single card.

Momomo us, a leaker, also provided a screenshot showing Radeon RX 6600 XT listings on Newegg from earlier this morning. At no point does it seem that any of them were ever in stock. Readers have also expressed disappointment with the pricing, with certain versions, such as ASUS’ ROG Strix Radeon RX 6600 XT and MSI’s GAMING Radeon RX 6600 XT, costing more than $500, far over AMD’s recommended price of $379.

It’s worth noting that today’s Newegg Shuffle event is completely comprised of Radeon RX 6600 XT graphics cards, with no mention of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs or PlayStation 5 consoles. According to one hypothesis, Newegg used up all of its Radeon RX 6600 XT supply on lottery and pre-built applications.

Scalpers seem to have had little success obtaining the new graphics cards, with just one offering for a scalped RX 6600 XT for $699.99 on eBay.com, with no additional listings so far.

If you live in Europe, though, you may have a greater chance of getting an RX 6600 XT. Right now, ebuyer.com has a few Sapphire and MSI RX 6600 XTs in stock, with prices ranging from 369.99 to 419.99 Euros. Stock is also available from other European merchants.
